• Happy Chinese New Year!

Celebrating 2018 with the year of the Dog. Preparations are taking place around the world for the Chinese New Year, a festival celebrated with parades, food, gifts and parties.

  • Year of the Dog

This year will usher in the year of the dog, one of the 12 animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac. The zodiac attaches animal signs to each lunar year in a cycle of 12 years and it is separated into 12 blocks, with each having a lifespan of one year.

Waterside Lion Dance is led by Ricky Tang, who established this group in 2001. With a passion for Chinese Kung Fu and Lion Dance, Waterside is now recognised as the South's leading lion dance group. Skills that Waterside knows include traditional southern lion dance, dragon dance, unicorn dance and traditional dragon sign martial art.

During our busiest period in the Chinese New Year our larger events such as Southampton City Centre and Exeter City centre our 160 foot long dragon will wake up from it's slumber to perform in these public events.
